How the discharge date is calculated and service length by branch
The discharge date is found by adding the branch's service months to the enlistment date and then subtracting one day. Under Korean military law the service end date (discharge date) is when the service period that begins on the enlistment day ends, so the enlistment day itself counts as the first day of service. Service progress is the share of total service that has elapsed as of today.

How long is service for each branch?
For active duty, the Army and Marines serve 18 months, the Navy 20 months, and the Air Force 21 months. Social service workers serve 21 months. This calculator uses these figures, and only the constants need changing if the rules change.
How is the discharge date calculated?
The discharge date is the day before the date reached by adding the service months to your enlistment date. For example, if you enlist on Jan 2 and serve 18 months, the discharge date is Jan 1, the day before Jan 2 eighteen months later. Under Korean military law the service end date counts from the enlistment day.
What is service progress (%)?
Service progress is the share of your total service that has elapsed as of today. It is (today − enlistment date) ÷ (discharge date − enlistment date) × 100, so 0% means your enlistment day and 100% means your discharge date.
Is this discharge date exactly the same as my real one?
